POSITION SUMMARY
The Windows Application Engineer is responsible for driving technical service resolution and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction by providing technical / functional support to current and prospective customers in a hosted SaaS company. Working as a part of a small support team, this position is responsible for providing systems and operational support for a suite of hosted applications in a 24 X 7 soup-to-nuts IT Engineering Department in a growing mid-sized company focused on a Fortune 500 client base.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for configuration, daily operation and administration of base server farms, SQL clusters and storage and custom applications in the SAVO datacenters
- Implementation of support and maintenance processes and mechanisms for systems and applications to help guarantee 100% availability and highest system performance
- Investigate production application issues and customer-driven production problems
- Develop and implement monitoring tools and automations to manage the site
- Investigate and resolve customer issues and take ownership of issues and tickets
- Act as an escalation partner to customer support personnel, implementation and sales teams
- Established problem solver. Resolve issues wherever possible and when not, identify and document problems clearly for escalation to other groups
- Participate in rotating on-call and shift coverage as needed to support company goals and maintain site and customer stability and performance
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Core component and technical experience:
- MS Windows Server 2008, .NET, multi-tiered architectures
- MS SQL database systems with SQL Query expertise
- Virtualization technologies and techniques, preferably VMware
- IIS Web application interfaces, configurations, proxy servers
- Experience with network monitoring software (MOM/SCOM preferred)
- Enterprise anti-virus and OS patch management
- Experience with storage management and backup systems and techniques
- Experience with communication protocols, network management, DNS, DHCP
- Ability to read and understand source code - JAVA, PHP, C#
- Front line customer service, site operations, field engineering support
- Experience with ground up system implementations, enterprise hardware / software deployment and upgrades
- Strong troubleshooting and debugging experience, problem resolution skills
- Ability to write management and monitoring scripts, create automations and system control facilities
- Experience with monitoring and management tools, performance management, reporting
- Strong Ticketing System skills, ownership, follow-up

- BS/BA or equivalent work experience plus 2-5 years of experience in a distributed web services and enterprise software environment or equivalent
