Below you will find highlights we’ve taken note of this week… what we’re seeing: mobile, mobile, mobile!

According to an article in CNN Money, Merrill Lynch has predicted its 2012 winners and losers in the tablet market. Topping the list of winners is Amazon’s Kindle Fire.

“We expect strong sales of the Kindle Fire (4-5mn in 4Q) to better position Amazon as media sales transition to digital, resulting in potential stronger media segment growth. We also anticipate that some Kindle Fire users become Prime subscribers, resulting in increased overall purchase frequency on Amazon.”

Other top tablet-contenders for 2012 include the 800-pound gorilla (Apple) and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series. Are you using a tablet for personal or business use – or is it a mix of both? If so, what is your brand of choice?

As reported by itWire, a survey of more than 8,500 sales managers, directors and associates found that the sales reps who are the easiest to reach close the most deals. Seems obvious that the most responsive are the most successful, but there is more to the survey.

Seventy percent of people with a company-issued tablet hit sales targets for the most recent sales quarter, compared with 62.5 percent overall. According to the survey, almost 90 percent of the sales people surveyed said mobile devices improved their productivity, while 46.5 percent cited faster communication as the main benefit of having a mobile device.

Lastly, we’ve been seeing more companies come out of the woodwork with their solutions for social collaboration for the enterprise. According to Forrester, enterprise social software will become a $6.4 billion market in 2016. Organizations are beginning to take a look at enterprise collaboration, with functionality similar to that of Twitter and Facebook.

We believe from a sales enablement perspective, enterprise collaboration (with purpose) will do wonders for organizations. The collaboration that occurs between colleagues is crucial – using the past experience and current insight from another sales team member or SME can determine whether or not a deal gets closed. Sales personnel should have the ability to access this knowledge at any time, through a combination social collaboration technology and mobile applications.

How does your company fair with social collaboration? Likes and dislikes?

Until next week!
