From Digital Business Card to Lead Generation Engine
The Challenge
Metro Landscape Supply had a large inventory of high-quality products (bark, rock, soil, sand, compost, and more), but their existing online presence was little more than a digital business card. It listed the business name and phone number, but that was about it. There was no way for customers to browse products, compare options, or understand what delivery services were available.
Both professional landscapers and DIY homeowners were searching online for specific products like "bark chips delivery near me" or "topsoil bulk pricing." Metro had exactly what these people wanted, but they were invisible in search results. Competitors with better websites were capturing that demand instead, even though Metro's product quality and pricing were superior.
The business was doing fine on word-of-mouth and repeat customers, but they were leaving a huge amount of new business on the table by not showing up when people were actively searching for their products.
Our Solution
We implemented a two-part strategy: a complete website redesign to turn the site into a real sales tool, paired with an ongoing local SEO campaign to get them ranking for the product searches that matter.
Digital Product Showcase Website
We developed a new, modern WordPress website architected as a digital product catalog. We created a clear, intuitive structure with dedicated pages for every product category: bark, rock, soil, sand, compost, and more. Each product page includes descriptions, pricing guidance, photos, and information about delivery options and service areas.
The site was designed with two audiences in mind. Professional landscapers need to quickly check availability and place bulk orders, so we made the quote request process fast and straightforward. Homeowners doing weekend projects need more guidance on which products to choose and how much they need, so we included helpful content like coverage calculators and product comparison information. Making the site genuinely useful for both groups is what turns visitors into customers.
Product-Focused Local SEO
We executed a long-term, monthly SEO strategy to establish Metro's authority for product-specific keywords. This wasn't generic local SEO where you optimize for "landscaping supplies." We targeted hundreds of specific, high-intent search variations: "bark chips delivery in [City]," "river rock near me," "bulk topsoil [County]," and similar product-plus-location combinations.
Their Google Business Profile got a complete overhaul with accurate product categories, service area definitions, regular posts, and a review generation strategy. We also built out location-specific landing pages for each city in their delivery area, so they'd show up whether someone was searching from Portland, Beaverton, Tigard, or any of the surrounding communities. Each page has unique, relevant content about serving that specific area, not just the same template with a different city name swapped in.
The Results
This strategic approach transformed the business from a locally known brand to the dominant local supplier online. The results have been sustained for years, not just a temporary bump.
Metro has ranked at the top of Google's organic and Map Pack listings for years for its most valuable product and service keywords. Not months. Years.
This sustained search visibility drives a consistent, high volume of daily leads for both bulk product sales and delivery services. The phone rings because people find them on Google, not just because of referrals.
The website has become a critical business asset, functioning as their digital sales yard and the primary engine of continued growth and market leadership.
Metro Landscape Supply is a great example of what happens when you combine a well-built website with consistent, long-term local SEO work. The website makes a strong first impression and converts visitors into leads. The SEO keeps the pipeline full by making sure Metro shows up wherever customers are searching. Neither piece works as well without the other, and together they've turned the website into the most productive employee the business has.
